ManzzFilm The Story Behind The Producer

MannzFilm is a 16 year old Billboard Producer from Toronto, Canada. He has produced for: Yungeen Ace, Rylo Rodriguez, BigWalkDog, Fn Da Dealer, R5 Homixide, Noodah05, Dirty Tay, Lb Spiffy, OMB Peezy, Duvy, Julio Foolio. One of his biggest achievements to date is his placement on the So Icy Boyz Deluxe Album by Gucci Mane charting #42 on Billboard. He recently has produced track #16 "How" by BigWalkDog with 2 other producers by the name of "Scotty Brook" & "HoodWithAnotha1".

Q: How did you get your producer name?

A: So the way I got my producer name was a few years ago there was a trend where people would put two z's at the end of their name, so I took my first name "Mani" removed the last letter and made it Manzz. It was catchy at first and my friends started calling me Manzz and I just ran with it.

Q: What was your first record placement?

A: My first placement was surprisingly my first major placement. I was a song with gso phat ft. Yungeen ace. I remember when getting that song with another producer "Air Keezy" I was in online school and getting excited that this was my first placement. That just motivated me to keep pushing fr and that I can really do this. The song is now released as Mask On ft. Yungeen Ace

Q: What is the biggest lesson you learned while working in the music industry?

A: The biggest lesson would have to be that your network and people you surround yourself with is the most crucial thing in getting songs and getting your foot in the door. Another thing would have to be that hard work always pays off and that getting a song with the biggest artist is closer than you think.

Q: What are somethings producers don't know that they should know?

A: I've only been doing this for a year now so I don't fully know everything but I hope that producers handle business properly when it comes to placements. I feel like everyone needs a lawyer to look over their contract and that they shouldn't just sign it off on their own. And hold back from collaborating with others because it's something that both people win with at the end no matter what, so be open with collabs with even a smaller producer because they will get their turn at one point too so you gotta help everyone out.

Q: What is your favorite record placement and why?

A: My favorite song that I produced has to be Lion Heart by R5 homixide (LLR5), because of the bounce of the beat and the flow of the artist.I made this song with another producer "Aprunthatcheck" which first sent over the melody and I did the drums and sent it to R5. When it was first released I didn't think much of it but then it started to blow up and now it's at over 1 million views on youtube. Lil Baby went live on his instagram and started to play the song and then I knew that this was one of my biggest songs.

Q: Where are you from, and how did it mold you into the person you are today?

A: I'm from Toronto, Canada. I really just worked hard and learned a lot of stuff along the way about certain things and I looked at other people who were succeeding and that made me question that if they can do it why can't I.

Q: Who is your favorite artist to work with?

A: My favorite artist to work with has to be Fn Da Dealer. He has such a unique sound and always goes hard on my beats. I have 1 song released with him called "Beast" ft. Lil Duke and another unreleased that is our best song yet. There are many other fire artists on the come-up that I work with such as Bvty, Young Money Easy etc) that i'm building with and I like working with. The artist I would want to work with this year would definitely be Lil Baby. I feel like our sound would match well.

Q: What DAW do you use, and what is your favorite plug-in?

A: I use Fl Studio and my favorite plugins are: Analog Lab, Arcade and SRX Orchestra.

Q: What makes you a hot producer?

A: I'm still working to get to that level but I think that my strong point in melodies makes me have a good advantage, because especially nowadays the first thing people hear in a song is the actual melody itself. I like melodies because it makes the whole vibe of a song.
