Wayv Beats is an18 year old music producer from Sydney, Australia. Wayv Beats is a Billboard producer who Produced for Future, Yungeen Ace, NoCap etc.
Q: How did you get your producer name?
A: I wish I could give an interesting answer for this but I can't. I was in desperate need of a name so I came up with 'wavy' but 'wavybeats' was taken so I swapped around the 'y' and the 'v'.
Q: What was your first record placement?
A: The first record placement I can think of was a song called 'Crazy' with a local artist @bluemiink. We've actually been close friends since we started school in 2009. The song ended up doing 60k+ on Spotify (before he deleted it) which was pretty impressive considering it was the first one he'd dropped.
Q: What is the biggest lesson you learned while working in the music industry?
A: There are a lot of valuable things that I've learned, but the first thing that comes to mind is how important consistency is. If you put in the work day in day out, you're going to see improvement and results without a doubt. Adding on to that I think it's very important to 'trust the process'- as cliche as it sounds, your time will come and you have to believe in that. Even if you're in a rough patch of a few months there could be somebody recording on your beat that could change your life and you just don't know it yet. In this day and age, every producer can win.
Q: Where are you from, and how did it mold you into the person you are today ?
A: I'm from Sydney, Australia. I've been fortunate enough to have a lot of opportunities to try different things growing up here, which without it I might not have pursued a career in music in the first place.
Q: Who is your favorite artist to work with?
A: @whoxi, he's an artist from Sydney. One of the most talented people I've met without a doubt- we got some crazy stuff in the vault. To work with in the future I'd have to say Rod Wave.
Q: What DAW do you use, and what is your favorite plug-in?
A: I use FL Studio 20, and my favorite plug-in is Bias FX 2 which I use for my guitar.
Q: What is your favorite record placement and why?
A: I don't know if it counts because it hasn't been released yet but it's a song called 'Guns n Roses' by Unfoonk featuring Future. It's gotta be my favorite because of how the whole thing played out I remember the moment I finished the loop with moneyxo it would get placed, and we saw Unfoonk hopped in it which was cool. But we did some digging and found a tiny snippet of the beginning of Future's verse on it, and obviously, this was crazy for us because of how big he is.
Q: What are somethings producers don't know that they should know?
A: I'd say the importance of learning an instrument and creating a niche for yourself through that. For example, I re-learned the guitar last year and it's opened up so many opportunities for me because it establishes an advantage for me over other people who can't play the guitar. Additionally, learning an instrument is a grind in itself and it can bring a lot of satisfaction as you improve. Every single placement and cent I made off music in 2021 was thanks to my guitar.
Q: What makes you a hot producer?
A: I'd say what I can do on the guitar :))
