Q: How did you get your producer name?
A: My first name is Melvin, my nickname has always been Mel. I wanted to keep my name simple and relatable to me.
Q: What is the biggest lesson you learned while working in the music industry?
A: Stay patient, stay humble, and stay consistent. Closed mouths don’t get fed.
Q: What makes you stand out from other producers?
A: I stand out from other producers because I have a purpose for achieving my goals. I’m from a small town, and I have a chip on my shoulder to show others from my area that achieving a dream is possible. Personally, I love music and get a thrill from being able to create beats every day.
Q: What is your favorite record you placed and why?
A: My favorite record I've been a part of so far is Xayy - Do You. Xayy is an upcoming artist I've been working with for the past year and we've been building up a catalog of quality songs. “Do You” was posted on promoting sounds YouTube page with 2.9 Million subscribers. The song currently has 66K views.
Q: What was your first record placement?
A: Placements coming soon!
Q: Where are you from, and how did it mold you into the person you are today?
A: I'm from Parkersburg, WV. My area is filled with talented people but it has little opportunities for growth. A substantial amount of people get trapped here and suffer from drug addiction or get caught up with the wrong crowd. This shapes me as a person because I want to achieve my dream and help give others a better opportunity to achieve their own dreams. I want to show the next generation what can be possible if they believe in themselves.
Q: What is your favorite DAW and your favorite plug-in to use? Why?
A: My favorite Daw is FL 20. I have the quickest workflow on FL 20 and it's the easiest for me to use. My favorite plugin right now is between Kontakt or Analog Lab V. Both have sounds perfect for the styles of beats I make.
Q: What makes you a hot producer?
A: I'm a hot producer because I care about the quality of everything my name is associated with. No matter how big or small the artist is, if I’m a part of a song I will be honest about what I think. I will respectfully give input on any improvements or changes that I could think of. I truly care about the sound/quality of the music that I create, not just the dollars attached to it.
